The little casa in this painting is overshadowed by trees and other vegetation, vegetation that grows very quickly here in the Yucatan. It must be a huge undertaking to keep nature under control and from what I can see and what intrigued me in the painting of these images is that nature often has the upper hand.
I used a very de-saturated palette. All colours are a mixture of complementary hues (opposites on the colour wheel) with white to lighten the tones. For me it was the contrast of the darkened window with the surroundings that provided interest in this composition more so than colour.
More dualities. .. that of dark and light; and the mixing of opposing colours, red/ purple with yellow/green, blue/green with red/orange, and yellow/orange with blue/purple.
Until next time
